Connecting Lonworks to Modbus

You have two devices in two different buildings on two completely different networks, one that uses the Lonworks protocol to communicate, while the other one talks Modbus ASCII protocol and they need to talk to each other. What do you do?

A FieldServer is a protocol converter or gateway that can communicate in many different protocols and physical layers including Lonworks protocol and the Modbus ASCII protocol. The Fieldserver acts as a middle man between the two devices. It reads data from one device, stores it internally and makes it available to the 2nd device using another protocol. This is how the FieldServer converts Lonworks data to Modbus ASCII data.

It's a simple solution to a common problem that we can help you with.

Lonworks

Lonworks is part of the Echelon family of protocols. With the help of FieldServer acting as a client and or a master we can set and retrieve Lonworks data from your device and make it available to many different devices no matter what protocol they use. The FieldServer can act as a protocol converter to convert the Lonworks protocol messages to an impressive set of other industrial automation, intelligent building, and building automation protocols. It works by talking Lonworks on one side of the network and anything else you want on the other. More information, Driver Data Sheet

Modbus ASCII

Modbus ASCII is part of the Modiconís Modbus family of protocols that operates on the serial network layer. With the help of a FieldServer client we can set and retrieve Modbus ASCII data from your device and make it available to other devices, or we can emulate a Modbus master and serve data to your Modbus device from other non Modbus devices. The FieldServer can convert Modbus ASCII message to an impressive set of other building automation protocols and acts as a middle man or protocol converter/gateway.
