A FieldServer is a protocol converter or gateway that can communicate in many different protocols and physical layers including BACnet IP protocol and the GE TLC protocol. The Fieldserver acts as a middle man between the two devices. It reads data from one device, stores it internally and makes it available to the 2nd device using another protocol. BACnet IP is part of the ASHRAE’s BACnet family of protocols that operates on the Ethernet IP network. The TLC driver is used to monitor and control TLC LevelIII (Level 3) lighting panels manufactured by GE's Total Lighting Division. We have solutions for the Prosys lighting panels too. Read more.
The TLC driver allows connection via a RLINK to allow monitoring/control of all connected panels. You can also connect directly to one panel without using an RLINK. In this case only the single panel may be monitored or controlled. However, we have a product at a price point which can make this an effective strategy for small systems or systems that are distributed in multiple buildings or where you cannot easily connect all the panels using one trunk.
The driver can also emulate PSS switches so that group commands can be sent to multiple panels.
We also support a tunnel to allow one Rlink to be shared between the FieldServer and a computer running the GE configuration software.
