FieldServer Driver – Serial

FS-8700-65

Silent Knight

Gateway Command

(SKgwcmd)

Description

The Silent Knight Gateway Command (SKgwcmd) Driver allows the FieldServer to transfer data to and from devices over either RS-232 or RS-485 using Silent Knight Gateway Command (SKgwcmd) Driver protocol.  There are eight RS-232 and two RS-485 ports standard on the FieldServer.  The FieldServer can emulate either a Server or Client.

The Silent Knight Gateway Command driver can serve as an active client as well as emulate a Silent Knight 5820 device in server mode.

The Silent Knight unit’s serial port settings are configurable. The FieldServer device can be configured to match all Silent Knight port settings.

The driver can process the following commands / queries

o General System Status

o System Trouble Status

o General Zone Status

o Expanded Zone Status

o Zone Description

o Output Group Status

o Output Group Description

o Point Status

o Point Description

o Time Status

o gateway Version

o Disable Point

o Enable Point

o Reset Alarms

o Silence

o Time Synch

The serial port on the Silent Knight Unit is not addressable and the protocol does not support node identification. Therefore, only one Silent Knight unit can be connected to each port on the FieldServer.
