FS-8700-20 – Profibus DP

FieldServer Driver – Fieldbus

Profibus DP

The Profibus DP driver allows the FieldServer to transfer data to and from devices using Profibus DP protocol with the use of a communications adapter card installed in the FieldServer. The FieldServer can function as either a DP Master or a DP Slave on the Profibus network.

As a slave, the Profibus DP driver allows the FieldServer to be a single DP slave station to another DP master.  This slave is capable of transferring 244 bytes of input and 244 bytes of output data to the other master.  If it is necessary to transfer more data to a Profibus master, then the Profibus DPMS driver will be necessary.  When used as a DP master, the adapter card provides a total of 16Kbytes of input and 16Kbytes of output data to be transferred with DP slaves.

Fieldserver Mode Nodes Comments
DP Master 126 The DP Master can communicate with up to 126 DP Slaves.
DP Slave 1 The DP Slave can represent one slave node on the network.
